FAQs

When should I arrive in Medellín?

We recommend arriving by Friday afternoon to join us for Welcome Drinks. If you’d like more time to explore Medellín, come as early as Wednesday or Thursday.

Which airport should I fly into?

Fly into José María Córdova International Airport (MDE), located ~45 minutes from El Poblado (where most guests will stay).

How do I get from the airport to the hotel?

We recommend you use Uber only. We’ll also share recommended drivers closer to the date.

Will my phone work in Colombia?

Check with your carrier for international roaming plans. T-Mobile and AT&T work for a nominal cost. (~$10/day)

Who do I contact with Questions?

We have created a WhatsApp group for everyone to join where you can ask questions leading up to and during the wedding.  CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE WHATSAPP GROUP

What is the weather like?

Medellín is the “City of Eternal Spring” 🌸 — expect warm daytime temps (22–26°C / 72–78°F) and cooler evenings. Light rain showers are common, so bring an umbrella or shawl.

Will my electronics work in Colombia?

Colombia uses Type A & B outlets, the same as the U.S. and Canada (two flat prongs, sometimes with a third round grounding pin).
The voltage is 110V / 60Hz, the same as the U.S. If you’re coming from the U.S., you don’t need a power converter. Guests from Europe/Asia may need a plug adapter

Will there be group transportation to the wedding?

No! Please use Uber to pick you up from the hotel and take you to the venue. See address on invite.

Is it safe to carry electronics in Medellín?

Yes, but use common sense:
  • Keep phones/cameras secure, especially in busy tourist spots.
  • Don’t flash expensive devices unnecessarily.
  • Use hotel safes for passports, laptops, and valuables when not in use.

Is Medellin Safe?

Yes! Medellín has transformed in recent decades and is safe in the main areas. Like any big city, remain mindful of belongings and use Uber's at night.

Is there Wi-Fi in Medellín?

Yes! Most hotels, restaurants, and cafés have free Wi-Fi. Our wedding venue will also have guest Wi-Fi.

What apps should I download?

Uber → safe and reliable for transport.
WhatsApp → essential for local communication (most Colombians use it).
Google Translate → useful if you don’t speak Spanish.

Can I use my credit card in Medellín?

Yes, credit and debit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are widely accepted, especially in hotels, restaurants, and shops. Check your credit card for Foreign Transaction Fees. It is recommended to carry some Colombian Pesos (COP) which you can order from your bank two weeks before leaving. $200 USD is plenty.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

Not necessarily. Many people in hospitality speak English, but learning a few Spanish phrases will be appreciated. Download the Google Translate app before you leave.
